Céleteque DermoScience™ Sun Care Soothing Lip Balm with SPF15 |
Whether we like it or not, we really have to undergo the
process of aging. It’s a part of life that is inevitable, but then, should we
just let life take its course? Probably yes, because we really can’t do
anything about it. It’s a part of our milestone as a human being, but then
again, we have the option to age gracefully and that will depend on how we are
going to take care of our self.
When I was younger, I was not that conscious about my
skin, my lips, my figure and etc, but that has changed when I started to see
some signs of aging particularly on my skin. I don’t have a fair skin, but I
was still contented of what I have. Before, I still don’t have fine lines or
wrinkles to hide, so putting on powder and wearing lipstick would usually
suffice. I also use skin care products, but only the basic ones, like beauty
soaps, lotions, sometimes face cream and other special products but that is only
if my skin problems are already too obvious. I avoid using alcohol based
products because my skin is dry and very sensitive
I also have issues with my lips just like my skin in
general. Since it’s dry, my lips would constantly crack and the skin would peel
off after a few days. I thought heredity has something to do with it, since I
used to see my mom and my aunt having the same problem. Their lips crack, will
form flakes and would peel off after how many days. This is very annoying
because the cycle would just continue over and over again.
I also blamed it on hormones because I observed it when
they were pregnant and I experienced it too during my pregnancy. I could still
remember that when I got pregnant for my second baby, my dry lips is at its
worst that I vowed to increase my fluid intake and to apply and re-apply lip
balm throughout the day (though it did not really resolve the problem).
Having dry lips is very uncomfortable. Sometimes, I got
tempted of peeling the skin off on my lips, which would often result to laceration.
Another inconvenience of having dry lip is during lipstick application. Lipsticks
are supposed to make us look good but dry lips highlight the peeling off of skin
and cracks (that is even though after application of other lip balm brands). In
my case, I cannot wear lipstick for a long time.
After trying a few brands of lip balms, I did not
anymore bother to look for a product that would solve this problem, because anyway,
I am already used to it. I am also not willing to spend on super expensive
products since I might just waste my money for a product which I am not 100
percent sure to be effective. Good thing I heard of Sample Room, a beauty and lifestyle
sampling website which allow you to try a product so you can later decide if
you’ll buy it or not.
One of their featured products for the month of January
is Céleteque DermoScience™ Sun Care
Soothing Lip Balm with SPF15. When I saw that it is still available, I
immediately take advantage of it, since who knows, it might already be an
answer for my dry lips problem… and I was not mistaken. When my package
arrived, I tried the product right away and after using it for 4 days; I can
safely say that this is the best lip balm I tried so far.
I like that it has minty, cooling effect on the lip. It
is also not too sticky and the lips do not feel heavy, unlike some other
products I have tried before. It effectively moisturized my lips and I was just
so happy because I was able to apply my lipstick easily, it just glides since
my lips are not dry anymore, rather it’s already soft and smooth. This made my
lipstick color last longer.
The only downside of this product is its manner of
application since you need to use your finger; therefore you need to make sure
your fingers are clean every time you apply it for hygienic purposes.
So what might have made this product effective? Probably
because it has complemented my skin well, it has the right ingredients and it
was created by one of my trusted skin care brand. Aside from moisturizing oils,
one of the interesting content of this product is its Mulberry (Morus nigra) leaf extract. It claims to
lighten dark lips, especially if it’s due to smoking. According to studies, it
mulberry extract works by suppressing melanin production because it contains
arbutin. Another feature of this product which caught my attention is its
UVA/UVB filter and SPF 15, so that means if I use this product, I should worry
less about the damaging effects of the sun to my lips, so I’ll make sure I have
it for my next summer get away!
